Why Ngwabou?

It all begins with a name. Our inspiration behind the Ngwabou Institute is based on Georgette Ngwabou, our founder’s mother, who dedicated her life’s work to assisting children in need through the gift of education.

Our Inspiration

Our nonprofit was named after Georgette Ngwabou, a Cameroonian based elementary teacher who dedicated her life to education. After teaching both kindergarten and elementary schools at all levels for almost forty years, she passed away in 2020. After her passing, we learned from colleagues, parents and former students’ testimonies that she had been silently helping dozens of orphans and disadvantaged kids by paying for their tuition and helping with books and other educational materials. Her commitment to education inspired our mission so we decided to name the nonprofit after her. In recognition of her life’s work in this community, we strive to help marginalized children through education, nourishment, and security.
